Sierra Leone Physical Therapy Trainee sets off for India for next stage of training

Surg+Restore, along with ReSurge Africa, would like to wish our physical therapist student at the Holy Spirit Hospital in Makeni, Sierra Leone, Balansama Janneh, ‘Bon Voyage’ as he leaves Sierra Leone and embarks on his 4 year BSc in Physical Therapy at SRM University in Chennai, India. Bala has already completed a training placement at Ganga Hospital in Coimbatore, India. Recently he has been working at the Holy Spirit hospital while waiting to take up his place at SRM, and has been part of the supporting team for three visiting surgical missions to HSH, two by British Society for Surgery of the Hand (BSSH) and one by visiting Ghanaian team from Korle-Bu teaching hospital, headed up by ReSurge/Africa  board of director Albert Paintsil.  2016-11-23 20.39.05Although, the HSH recently lost our Physical Therapy plant, (which we shared with Microbiology) to a fire caused by a power surge (see picture) we are committed to carry on with our mission of a starting Sierra Leone’s first and only Reconstructive/Plastic Surgery Department with modern trained surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses and physical therapists
