Man arrested for murder following death at Salt Lake City storage facility

SALT LAKE CITY — A man was arrested and faces charges of murder after another man was found dead inside a storage facility in Salt Lake City Wednesday.

Police announced that 41-year-old Nathan David Evans was taken into custody on one count of murder and one count of obstruction of justice.

The man who was killed was not publicly identified, but police said he was 65 years old.

After receiving reports of an unresponsive person inside "A Place for Your Stuff", a storage facility for those experiencing homelessness, located at 502 West 300 South, officers arrived at 11:18 a.m. and discovered the body of the 65-year-old.

Police detailed that both the victim and Evans worked at the warehouse.

Officials report a motive for the murder is still under investigation.

Further details about what led up to the fatal situation as well as the exact relationship between the two individuals were not made available.

This is the first homicide investigation of 2024 in Salt Lake City with 16 total homicides occurring in 2023.
